Ma quando, nella primavera del 1526, il cardinale Wolsey la presenta al sovrano, Enrico è fulminato dalla sua bellezza insolita, dallo sguardo fiero e malizioso. Da quel momento è un susseguirsi di avvenimenti che cambieranno la storia d’Inghilterra: Enrico è ossessionato da quella giovane donna, ma lei rifiuta le sue avances. Il re scalpita, non dorme più. Gli è chiaro: se la vuole, dovrà sposarla. Ma prima dovrà liberarsi della moglie, ricorrere a Roma, ottenere un annullamento. Nel giugno 1533, Anne è incoronata regina. Ma il suo regno avrà vita breve, giacché Enrico impiegherà meno di tre anni a stufarsi di lei e a cercare un modo per sbarazzarsi della sua ingombrante presenza…
